August: spring reset & winter news

As we pass through another season; we like to share, reflect and look toward something new and something warmer.

This winter

So many of our friends made dahl as seen on one of recent blog posts - the recipe has been made in lots of kitchens across Adelaide, and we are so happy it was a hit when you created it at home!

This winter has come alongside an increase in cost to our weekly grocery bill and we have had to swerve and adjust to these cost of living increases across all our households.

Here are some tips to try and minimise the cost of food and your grocery bill this season:

1. Buy seasonally, spring fruit and vegetables

2. Try and limit the amount of times you go to the shop, bring a list and never go hungry (the more times you go to the shop the more likely you are to buy something you don't necessarily need)

3. If fresh vegetables are going to waste don't hesitate to buy frozen veggies sometimes; same goes with pre-packaged salad and slaw

4. Store food correctly; if you have a vegetable or fruit that you'd like to last longer, once bought, store in a plastic bag in your crisper or store in an air tight container if open i.e. half an avocado or capsicum

5. Loose lettuce, herbs and greens. Some shops will offer loose lettuce leaves, rocket, coriander etc. these are great options to only get what you need rather than a bigger portion that may end up in your green bin. If your normal shop doesn’t have this try a Foodland or market (they normally do).

Looking forward to our upcoming SPRING season!
